School system is fragile

 

I mean it’s not fragile because it has broken long time ago

 

Whatever benefit may there still be in school – it is bound to be destroyed – for it is fragile.

 

School is a top-down system with little interest in the creativity of an individual and a lot of interest in the obedient stupidity of the whole.

Since it’s top-down and rigid — it is bound to be inadequate – and thus fragile.

 

Learning is antifragile when it is practical and ALIVE.

Knowledge is not only honed by experience — it springs from it.

Lessons which are preordained are dead, useless. Literally: only the useful is useful. Useful lessons come from USING THINGS – not from rote memorisation of some arbitrary set of “knowledge”.

 

They put you in school in order to inspire learning in you. Instead you come out with lasting antipathy for it. This is iatrogenics. This is how you destroy curiosity trying to force it upon others.

 

Please understand vitality of problem. Don’t just take my rants as me getting back at school.

We owe it to our children not to TARNISH their pure, unspoilt curiosity with brutal, heartless compulsion.
