Words Are Beautiful But Not Serious

Aphorisms are universally aesthetic but only narrowly meaningful.

We are writers first and humans second. We concern ourselves with words first and actions second. And even our actions only lead back to words and ideas: the titles and achievements and acquirements.

Words are beautiful but are not serious.

Actions are serious.

I would like not for any of my words, or any words, to be taken seriously – for words are never serious. Only actions.

The truth cannot be put to words anyway so it’s pointless to look for it literally within this language-game. We are only playing with the truth, perhaps hinting at it – but never unravelling it.

To be serious is to act.

Not to be right, not to listen to your mother, not to prove them wrong, not to “make it”. Just act.

And words?

Words will spring out beautifully in the wake of a meaningful action.
