The Poor, The Meaningless, The Free

Does it really matter who is rich and who is poor

isn’t what really matters

to know HOW TO LIVE?

Everyone is rich in the XXI century western world.

The only importance of the get-rich-game is freedom

There is nothing truly valuable to gain with money

But the price one pays for his incompetence to the world is freedom

Not having money is costly because you have to pay it with your time

and that’s the biggest price

The world was infinitely abundant and large before we came

We made it even more abundant for ourselves and more comfortable

Then we made it even larger

The world is so large today we don’t even know how to make it larger

send dog into space?

put man on mars?

destroy entire city with one bomb?

obviously mankind doesn’t struggle for survival

it struggles for self-aggrandizement

which is merely a struggle for meaning

How does one fund this restless quest for “greatness”?

It is funded with our LIVES

We don’t struggle for survival

We struggle for meaning

We pay with our time, we pay with our lives — because that’s the only way we can pay

The whole rich—poor problem is thus an illusion

We are all rich. Rich in this world’s abundance — and rich in the wealth of all previous generations.

We are poor because we give up our lives, we give up our freedom.

We do it as individuals — and we do it as the collective

For the quest for meaning is universal,

Existential problems of an individual are existential problems of mankind

The few times we’re not busy grappling with our own dilemmas

We are dragged into the wars of our noble leaders

Therefore, to be free one must free himself twice

From the tyranny of the society

And from the predicament of his own psyche
