You can skim through an idea or theory and understand it in 90% — but that missing last 10% compromises the entire meaning
I believe combination of your innate cognitive laziness with confirmation bias is what largely causes that — and subsequently our ineffectiveness at learning from what we read and hear
And then one day we’ve read it all and heard it all — but we still know nothing
Be mindful of this happening to you
You read and you kind of “know it” — but really you don’t
Stop reading to confirm your beliefs and instead read to invalidate them
Read as though your goal is to find a flaw in your thinking, or the text itself, or both.
Because the moment you cease being critical, the moment you cease thinking for yourself — is the moment you are stupid
Don’t be stupid
Resist the confirmation bias and stay critical, ever critical
