morality in movies is pop-morality
morality in media is pop-morality
morality in public discourse is pop-morality
pop-morality is either a political ideology
or some kind of amusement and self-indulgence
or both
real morality is how you treat others
and how your actions affect others
and when in doubt?
then do what you will — but be quiet about it
don’t pretend you know what is “moral”
morality in media and culture and entertainment is pop-morality
to call it nonsense is an understatement
it was never even an attempt at morality
again: it’s either political, or self-indulgent
it’s either politically correct, or makes for a good plot in the fucking movie, or a good chorus in the song
the only problem is we take it seriously
we don’t ask what is GOOD
not philosophically, not practically
we actually take this political-drivel and entertainment-masturbation seriously
hence it’s best to not even consume it
learn to be entertained by your own life, not fictional stories with fictional characters and their fictional morality
and not the clowns on the tv with their fickle morality
please be simple and treat others better
and don’t even talk about morality
you don’t have a clue about it
and it’s ok
just treat your neighbour and your brother better
