Emotional overreaction indicates incomplete comprehension
The ultimate nature of ALL things is perfect neutrality
When you’re very used to something — it doesn’t make you dramatically emotional;
When you’re used to something — you’re neutral
(Curiously, this neutral can be ‘neutral-boring’, or ‘neutral-apathetic’, or ‘neutral-loving’)
Bottom line is, your state, and your reaction, and your emotions, don’t fluctuate
We’re often emotional aren’t we?
We get angry
We get sad
We get excited
You look around and there’s all this crazy turmoil
I tell you it’s our incomplete comprehension which is at fault
See, what we fail to understand — surprises us
Positively, negatively,
We subsequently react emotionally,
It’s an adaptation
If it surprises you — then it’s outside of your control
Emotion triggers you to adapt, by seizing control
E.g. fear of a saber-toothed tiger causes you to adapt to the situation by AVOIDING that evil monster
Feeling of boredom is perhaps a suggestion that you’re not exactly living, but rotting;
Anger is a sign that someone, something is MISPLACED;
Sadness is your attachment to something you consider valuable
etc
…but if only you understood,
you wouldn’t be so volatile
if only you understood,
you’d understand that all passes
it wouldn’t sadden you no more
and you’d understand exactly what’s in your control, and what’s not,
and that otherwise everything is exactly how it’s supposed to be
it wouldn’t anger you no more
and you’d understand that to live is to be ALIVE
and you wouldn’t seek pleasure and distraction and excitement any more
etc
and this is what I want you to understand
all this turmoil in the world,
you’d think there’s a good, external reason,
no
it’s all within
sure it manifests on the outside,
but it’s the turmoil of each and every one of us
it’s our ignorance
it’s our confusion
it’s our incomplete comprehension
and we don’t just “solve” some problem and solve this problem of our inner turmoil,
of all this craziness and emotions and outrage
what must be solved is our CONSCIOUSNESS
our COMPREHENSION
and then there can be peace
