If There Is No Self Then How Can There Be Guilt?

If there is no self how can there be guilt?

Whose guilty then?

There can be pain without the experiencing, but how can there be guilt?

Guilt is different to pain in that it’s not merely a sensation, but it is this whole mental construct.

Guilt comprises of the memory of the self, memory of certain action taken, and an ideal of what-ought have been done.

Can there be guilt without the self?

Can there be guilt without the memory?

Guilt is BASED on memory. There can be no guilt without the memory.

The self is the memory. Self is born out of the memory.

And absence of self, the self which is improving, which is regretting, which is at fault, absence of self disables the possibility of guilt occurring.

Surely, there can be no guilt without the self.

…surely, the guilt is only greater when the self is larger.

Guilt has became our little addiction.

We love guilt.

There is an inherent sense of identity in an experience of guilt.

There is no guilt without the self. Conversely, when there is guilt — there is the self.

And we find the most elaborate ways of bringing life into the empty self, into the no-self, that grand illusion.

Guilt has nothing to do with goodness.

Guilt has nothing to do with goodness for goodness has nothing to do with the SELF.

Goodness is not an agenda. Goodness is not mechanical. Machines are mechanical. Goodness is not mechanical. Machines are dead. Goodness is human. Human is alive. Goodness is alive. Goodness is human. Agendas, systems, are dead, are mechanical, are not alive, and are not human.

The self is mechanical. Self is a repetition. It’s a pattern of memory.

You cultivating yourself as “good” is merely you cultivating yourself. There is no communion, no caring, just you. You alone.

(Think of people who “want good” yet wind up making more harm then good)

Goodness is spontaneous. It’s moving from moment to moment. It does not rely on memory. It doesn’t leave trace.

Guilt has nothing to do with goodness. Merely an ideal of goodness, which is no goodness at all. Guilt has everything to do with the EGO.

When you capture yourself entwined in the process of guilt… bring attention to it. See it’s nature, see how it is merely a function of the self, how it is it’s mean of perpetuation.

See the entire uselessness of guilt, see it’s entire malevolence, see how poisonous it is and destructive.

Let go of it.

Move out of the past, from moment to moment. Do not hold on to guilt, or any other deceitful iteration of the self.

Be sensitive in the moment. There can be no guilt when there is consciousness, when there is understanding.

Let go of all this poison.
