At The End You Have No Edge

at the end you have no edge

no advantage, no superiority

you start from nothing

you don’t yet walk don’t yet talk

we all start from nothing, truly

you start from nothing

you have no advantage yet, you’re no one, nothing

then you gain your advantage

you do things make things gain things accumulate things learn things

then you give it all up eventually

you have no advantage once again

and do you know what’s the secret?

to give up all your edge out of your own volition

but do you know what’s the secret?

you give up your advantage — but not because you “lose it”

your edge is gone because everyone else found their way up

and hopefully you showed them the way

first you gained for you

then you gained for others

when you were over-abundant then the only way to be more abundant still, gain more still, was to gain for others

and then you became hyper-abundant — once you took everyone up

and with it your edge was gone

don’t presume to give if you are destitute — you’ve nothing to give

but if you fail to give once you attained — you fail to move to the higher place still

and the highest place is when you have no advantage once again

your advantage is the world’s advantage

it’s shared entirely

understand that perhaps you’re “stuck” for that very reason

perhaps it’s time to give

perhaps you’ve no more use of that particular resource: perhaps you should share it

and perhaps you’ll attain something else entirely

and perhaps that will be that next level
