you’re either alive — or distracting yourself
when you’re scared to live — you’re distracting yourself
when you’re confused — you’re distracting yourself
when you’re tired — you’re distracting yourself
you’re scared of the unknown, you’d rather retain homeostasis
you’re confused, you’d rather not seek the truth, you’re overwhelmed, you’re arrogant, you’d rather delude yourself, you’d rather be ignorant
you’re tired, you only have so much energy, you only have so much strength
therefore you’re distracting yourself
you’re distracting yourself — until something inspires you to live again
you’re distracting yourself — until something forces you to act again
you’re distracting yourself — until you get so sick of this FALSE EXISTENCE that you’d rather do anything then this nothing
but then you get tired, get uncomfortable, get confused — and distract yourself again
and so it goes, round and round
You obviously would rather be alive
…You don’t always understand it
Perhaps you delude yourself so successfully so as to believe your distraction is NOT a distraction
Or that it is benign
But you know
Deep within you know
You know you could have been alive — but instead you’re distracting yourself
And you know that terrible feeling of not living
You’d rather be alive
You’d rather be alive — alas you’re scared, confused, tired
What now?
What now?
Well,
Now you stop distracting yourself
And you live
And you live
And you go against your fear and you go against your ignorance and you go against your comfort and you go against your stagnation and you go against tiredness
Obviously
Obviously, since this is a tautology
There’s no magic trick
One day you recognise that you have been distracting yourself — and failing to live
And one day you choose to live
And then you choose to live more
And then you choose to live in spite of fear
And then you choose to live in spite of confusion
And then you choose to live in spite of resistance
And then you choose to live in spite of tiredness
You realize there’s no time for any of that nonsense
And when you’re too petrified — you find a way around
YOU DON’T TURN BACK — you FIND A FUCKING WAY AROUND
It’s either forward or backwards
And when you’re tired — you take a break
But you DON’T DISTRACT YOURSELF
You stay alive
You live
You live your life — never someone else’s
It’s simple really
It’s difficult
It’s all simple once you see
It’s all difficult when you’re blind
Open your eyes
You’re either alive — or distracting yourself
Please open your eyes — see this simple truth — then LIVE
