Emotions are — and are not immature, or mature
Emotions are
Emotions are
It’s a cause and effect reaction
Something outside happened
Something inside was triggered, poked at, released
Emotion happened
To dwell on it is immature, unwise
This is only an effect — not the cause.
You don’t dwell on the effect, you learn about the cause
To deny it, repress it, is immature, unwise
The effect is indicative of some cause
As well as of your nature, of something within you
To deny it, repress it, is to deny the truth, to pretend it’s not there, before your eyes
How wise is that? How responsible? How mature?
Emotions are
You can cry
You can get angry
You can get sad
You can get impatient
You can get bored
You can feel insecure
Emotions are
Don’t deny the above, nor dwell on it
Perhaps you’re feeling sad — and perhaps you should cry! It would be unwise not to cry.
Perhaps there’s a very sad truth you must admit — then let go of the sadness around it, CLEANSE yourself through tears — then, with your mind clear, move on
Perhaps you’re feeling angry — perhaps you should get angry. Perhaps you should finally SAY what you think, have YOUR WAY — even if you’re wrong
Or perhaps you’re angry every day,
Or making sad faces every day,
Perhaps every day is too much
perhaps you’re dwelling on it,
why dwell on it
get angry once — then move on
sit in a room for an hour and be ANGRY ALL YOU WANT — then move on,
sit in a room for an hour and CRY ALL YOU WANT — then move on
This is maturity
NOT lack of emotions, which is just nothing,
NOT repression of emotions, false calmness, false strength
And not overoccupation with either emotion, making serious faces about your serious problems,
None of that is maturity,
Maturity is a mature, understanding, and inquiring attitude to your own emotions
