Ultimately, how you feel about life is how you feel about yourself, and vice versa.
Because whatever it is that you call “yourself” — is ultimately but a collection of your life experiences.
Unjust life creates unjust people.
Tough life creates tough people.
Loving world creates loving people.
Boring life creates boring people.
Comfortable world creates weak people.
Etc.
and like,
Unjust people create unjust world.
Tough people like to live a tough life.
Loving people create a loving world.
Boring people make boring things.
Weak people languish in comfort.
Etc.
We think there’s this great separation of you and the life you live,
There isn’t,
You set about IMPROVING YOURSELF for whatever reason. Why yourself? Why not improve everything? Is there anything but improvement?
You set about this IMPROVING YOUR LIFE business. Your LIFE is what you do every day. What you do every day is the kind of person you are. Which means you CAN’T IMPROVE YOUR LIFE without IMPROVING YOURSELF.
It’s not one of the two — you do both.
The separation only appears to be because you don’t understand what IMPROVEMENT even means,
Your idea of a better life, improved life, is nonsense society sold you.
Your idea of a better you, improved you, is again nonsense society sold you.
Both of those are lies. Unrelated to true self-improvement and true life-improvement.
Therefore yes — you can in separation practice “fake life improvement” and “fake self-improvement” — and they will be entirely unrelated.
But when you practice real improvement — your life improves and YOU improve. Both improve. Inextricably.
To improve your life is to improve yourself, improve how you feel about life, improve how you feel about yourself.
YOU ARE YOUR EXPERIENCES.
When you are building a house — you become a builder. That’s what you are that moment.
When you are having a walk in the park — you are someone whose walking. That’s what you are that moment. That’s what describes you at that moment.
When you are experiencing love — you become loving. It becomes you.
When you are experiencing joy — you are a joyful person.
Your experiences is what will describe you. Nothing else. Nothing else. How could anything else describe you?
You only fail to identify with the experience — if you’re NOT TRULY there,
If you’re trying to be a postman when you’re building a house,
Or when you’re trying to a be a plumber when you’re making a dinner,
Get it?
You FAIL to COMMIT to DOING WHAT YOU WANT TO DO — and in it fail to COMMIT to being that PERSON WHO DOES THAT THING,
AND you thus fail to commit to being the PERSON who DOES WHAT THEY WANT TO DO,
That alone, that last sentence — is how you entirely transform how you feel about yourself,
You are no longer a plumber or a waiter or a businessman or a housewife — you are SOMEONE WHO DOES WHAT THEY WANT.
You are someone who has CAME into this world — and as long as they’re there — will LIVE THE LIFE to the fullest.
Just go ahead and select a single thing you will DO right now,
“Right now” can mean today, or it can mean this week, or it can mean this lifetime, or it can mean this hour.
Then do it with your ENTIRE being.
And let this act of doing inform your perception of yourself.
Become one with doing,
Become one with the thing you’re doing, thing you’re working on, thing you’re creating,
And experience this joy and creativity and satisfaction and single-mindedness and flow and simplicity,
And become one with it.
DO YOUR BEST TODAY — and you ARE YOUR BEST indeed,
There’s nothing more,
Everything else is arbitrary, false. Nothing you did can define you. Past is dead. Only what you do today can define you.
Select a single thing to do this moment — and DO IT with your entire being — and let THAT effort define you.
Make it the most powerful experience of creativity and passion — and you ARE creative, and you are productive, and you are passionate, you are full of energy and joy and love,
Then repeat this process — for EVERYTHING else in your life, ever.
