Yesterday, or last year, or 10 years ago — you had a VISION of something you would ONE DAY do
One day meant next day or next month or next year
You did not do it
You are no longer going to do it
Likely it’s not even possible to do it now, 10 years later
But you held to that vision
You held to it reflexively
You FORGOT to update your inner TO-DO LIST
You forgot to change the status to OBSOLETE
And so you look back 10 years ago,
And you remember some of the things you were THEN going to do soon
And part of you is still waiting for you to do them, today
Even if it’s now utterly different reality
But you’re still evoking this very realistic THOUGHT-FEELING of what it is like to be DOING THAT THING SOON, the IMAGE of you doing that thing
That image has formed 10 years ago, but you have not updated it, nor gotten rid of it
So today you still can see the image and FEEL what it’s like to be doing that thing, which you intended to do 10 years ago
And therefore 10 years ago feels like yesterday
Because the same palpable vision you had 10 years ago you still store unchanged in your mind
What’s the conclusion, if there is any?
-You dream more than you live
You’ve more plans and ideas than you realise.
-You fail to let go of that which no longer is
What are the consequences?
Dreaming is of course not living. This requires no more explanation.
If you’re more interested in dreaming than leaving — dream on
If you want to live — dream less.
And failure of letting go?
Perhaps there’s regret and guilt, which are unproductive
Perhaps there’s nostalgia, which is a distraction
Perhaps there’s only the cute feeling of “it feels like it was yesterday”,
Next time it “feels like it was just yesterday” — consider what you want to do in life, what’s important, and what matters
