Success Guarantees Animosity and Separation
Success guarantees animosity and separation
The more you “succeed”, the more you separate yourself
Obviously you do. You become different to get different outcomes
Furthermore in getting different outcomes — you lose interest in the old outcomes
Including old people, their old opinions, their old activities, all the old shit related to them
And they feel the same way about you
And if you just got lucky? If you remain the same — just got different outcomes?
Then it’s even worse!
You’re now sheep among the wolves
You got outcome you didn’t deserve
You now sit at the table with the adults
You will soon learn that you’re a moron and a loser, compared to them
You didn’t earn it, you don’t belong there
You will feel most insecure in your entire life
Finally, when you get superior outcomes — people want to take it away from you
Not because they are so evil
They’re just self-interested. We all are.
But when the discrepancy is too big — their incentive to benefit at your cost starts outweighing other qualities and values, like loyalty, self-respect, morality, etc.
Obviously the point of this text is not to dissuade you from doing better,
It’s more an apology for those poor fellows who “made it” — only to lose everything
As well as a relevant PREPARATION for what’s to come
As well as some consolation — for indeed moving slower, with some bad luck — can perhaps be better
