There’s a way to LIE, without committing the sin of lying
All you have to do is convince yourself that you’re not really lying
It’s not so difficult, actually:
E.g. you could say:
-“It wasn’t clear”
-“THE TRUTH is IN THE MIDDLE”
-“That’s not what I meant”
-“I was taken out of context”
-“You misunderstood me”
-“You don’t understand it, you’re stupid”
-“I wasn’t serious”
-“I was JOKING!!”
and of course the most glorious one, plain and simple:
-“I DIDN’T SAY THAT. YOU are the one who’s lying”
The benefits are immense
You can now lie with impunity
If you master this tactic — indeed you’ll get away with a TON
Because it takes a while before people catch on that you’re simply a fucking delusional sociopathic whackjob
That you only sounded so convincing because you genuinely believe your lies
And that you had a tactic for every time you’re caught, that works the first couple times
Especially if you are also good at maintaining positive image otherwise
Lying of course is extremely potent
Imagine you could lie with impunity that you will give that borrowed money back, with big interest! And then you don’t! That’s free money!
We have a ton of arrangement where there’s NO LAW to protect us. It’s your word vs mine
LIAR can lie, lie, lie, and steal, and abuse, and benefit, and get ahead at your expense
There’s only one problem with this strategy
One is — truly high-value and intelligent and serious people will see through it — and they won’t even deign to spit on your ugly face ever again
Other is — the less-than-so-lofty may eventually get a bit too upset, and break your legs
i.e. it is dangerous strategy to pull on some people
But yes. It tends to work on regular, civilised people, who can’t see through your game, nor are violently inclined to retaliate, after you fucked them over
This is why modern society is slightly failing us
We normalised a lot of those tactics
And relativised too many truths
And devalued experts and authority too much
So more such scum discovers they can lie with impunity
In a world where truth is not valued — lying becomes a virtue
So if someone fucks you over like that
Lies to you
Then makes it look as though you’re the one lying
You can thank yourself, among the others
Because you didn’t speak up when someone else was lying,
spreading irresponsible misinformation
you should have called him an IGNORAMUS, a WHACKJOB,
or a plain LIAR, FRAUD,
And guess what — it would actually be completely bipartisan
It wouldn’t add fuel to the fire
It doesn’t matter what side you’re on — if you TWIST the facts to suit your narrative — you’re a fraud and a charlatan
And add to this normalisation of this pathology of untruth and lying and lying and lying
