Act Like God, View Yourself as Scum

Act like God

View yourself as no more than scum

View yourself as no one, as a scum

Scum that no one cares about

Scum that people only deign to look at because they’ve still some benefit to obtain from you

An animal to devour, an animal to mate with

Act like god

As though every action of yours is of cosmic consequence

As though it’s GODLY in quality

As though it’s as good as ANYTHING HAS EVER BEEN

As though your life depended on it

As though the world depended on it

People will love you or hate you,

Or perhaps plain ignore you

those animals

If they ignore you — then you’re blessed

Because you’ll have no delusions of importance

You’ll sooner realise that you are as good as dead

When you’re dead, no one will care about you, stop deluding yourself

But

if people love you — you’re mislead into believing that there’s something intrinsically good about you

It was never about you

It’s only what you do

It’s only what you do

Only that is real

Nothing is constant but change

You’re the change you’re engendering

And

THAT is when you’re GOD

THAT is when you’re god

When you give utmost care to everything you do

Utmost love

Utmost respect

Utmost attention to everything you lay your eyes on

That is divine

That is god-like

And of course what you do can have no spectators

Others looking is absolutely unrelated, a distraction really

It’s not about you, it’s about what you do

But it’s NOT about what others think you do — it’s about WHAT YOU DO

Anything but THE THING is a distraction

It’s really best when no one interferes with your work, no one is looking

For at least then it’s pure and genuine

Then it’s JUST work, JUST art

This OF COURSE doesn’t mean that you won’t be doing things with others

And that consensus among you won’t be relevant

And that your work’s survival won’t be often predicated on others finding it useful

It will

And then you can include those necessary actors as PART of the “WE”, the group

Except there’s really no subject,

There’s no YOU, there’s no I, there’s no WE

There’s only THE work

And their value is instrumental

It’s all slave to the work

It’s all slave to the vision

It’s all slave to the vision

You’re all slaves

You’re all scum

You’re not a “great team”

You’re just LABOURERS

Only the work matters

Only DOING YOUR BEST matters

I mean it

You should think NOTHING about yourself

And about your “accomplishments”

You should really only try to do your best today

Be serious about it, of course = you will have to REVIEW your outcomes over the timeframe, you can’t just wing it

But once it’s reviewed — it only serves to inform you how to STILL do better

…I wrote about it here:

“You Are Only What You Did TODAY”

But I can’t stress it enough

Blessed are those who are NO ONE — yet do their best

Cursed are those who think they are SOMEONE — yet do whatever

Yet do meh

Cursed are ALL those who think they are someone — for they harbour a poisonous delusion

Cursed are all those who give it less than everything — for they are missing on the only thing that life’s about

There are degrees of it

Some live only for their feeble illusions of significance

Others merely relish every now and then looking over the edifice of their transient identity

Others still barely notice themselves to exist

And many of the latter only barely notice the thing that’s in front of them, the work that they’ve to do

And that too is absolutely pathetic and a waste of life

I told you to ACT like god

You must be GOD in how you act

How well and carefully you do everything

How upright you are

How profoundly attentive to every detail

Including, OBVIOUSLY, the TRUTH

Which is not just an instrument of self-righteousness, which is a fucking delusion

But merely an impersonal attribute of reality, and your moment-to-moment engagement with it

So I uphold and then double down on my view,

It really is a wonderful thing to view yourself as no more than a scum

I’m not even hyperbolic,

You’re still GOD if you give all of your pride and attention and energy into your WORK

If you do god’s work

Not in delusional religious sense

But in the sense of ABSOLUTE EXCELLENCE and COMMITMENT and SERIOUSNESS

and sense of APPRECIATION for the GIFT OF EXISTENCE
