To approximate reality — you must measure it
Measuring is done AGAINST something. It’s all relative
E.g. cat is small next to a wolf, but large next to a mouse
If you only win — you’re measuring only against mice
Which is great
You get the information what you’re LARGER than
But you get no information regarding what you’re SMALLER than
Which is why you must lose
This is what teaches you what you’re smaller than
We prefer winning
So we get a lot of info what we’re bigger than
We don’t so much like losing
So we don’t get enough info what we’re smaller than
You need all the info you can get
Obviously
If you’re flying on vacation, you’d rather have a decent approximation of the temperature there
If it’s hotter than Antarctica, and cooler than Sahara — that’s not really useful information, is it
Why would you put up then with paucity of information about yourself, and pertinent business in your life?
I said previously that great luck is a curse, for that reason
I also said it’s key to win at various games of life,
MOSTLY because it HUMBLES YOU
But once we formulate winning and losing this way — as necessary conditions to MEASURE something objectively,
then anyone who doesn’t conduct such measurement is, of course, rendered a fucking clueless clown
…I could end this text here
Yes, we don’t understand it
“Winners” don’t nearly fail enough
Or they failed, then won, now they don’t fail, to pretend they can stay “winners” forever, without evolving
Losers don’t nearly try to win enough
Just protect themselves from losing some more
Your problem is not laziness
Your problem is you won’t let yourself win.
You won’t read that book or try learning that new skill or try this new thing — because you’re afraid you may just win
And once you start winning — it shall mean so much hard work! Let’s just stay mediocre
Win and lose, a LOT, every day
That’s how you learn what to do next
OF COURSE win and lose a lot instrumentally — to achieve your goals.
But also win and lose a lot just for the sake of acquiring that vital information,
And staying young and hungry and nimble and humble
Yes literally,
Make a list of shit you can try and fail
And shit you can try and win
Everything
OF COURSE don’t fail just for the sake of failing — then you’re just a failure
And if you only fail — then you also fail to approximate your position — for without winning you can’t probe your bottom
Do fail to get information, obviously
But not merely information about perfecting some design, anyone can do that
Fail to acquire information about YOURSELF
Take on harder and harder challenges — so that you may just FAIL, at last — and learn your place
Indeed if you’re never failing it means you’re not challenging yourself enough
Challenge yourself
