No One Is Exempt From Madness Unless Reality Brutally Humbles Them

NO ONE, ABSOLUTELY NO ONE, IS EXEMPT from becoming UTTERLY UTTERLY DERANGED — when REALITY ceases to INVALIDATE THEIR DELUSIONS

no one,

It doesn’t have to have ANYTHING to do with INTELLIGENCE or INSIGHT or EGO,

If REALITY around you is WARPED ENOUGHyou’re actually RATIONAL to BELIEVE what you see TIME AND TIME AGAIN with your own eyes

And it’s NORMAL to save your precious attention from UNNECESSARY INVALIDATING EVIDENCE, if you see NOTHING but VALIDATING evidence

(you don’t spend your days looking to invalidate the belief that sun will rise again)

….and even MORE SO if INVALIDATING EVIDENCE is otherwise USELESS…

(you don’t spend your days looking to invalidate the belief that pink unicorns don’t, in fact, exist)

…”USELESS”, of course, is often just a euphemism for saying it doesn’t BENEFIT you in any way,

as opposed to LOOKING OTHER WAY

(i.e. if you were actually wrong, but stood to benefit more from EMBRACING this delusion, this lie, than from questioning it, correcting it — you will GLEEFULLY LOOK THE OTHER WAY)

…but OF COURSE you’re NOT EVEN aware that’s what’s happening

(just like you don’t have to “ignore” the idea to pour gasoline over yourself and light the candle — because it doesn’t ever cross your mind)

This is why unless reality BRUTALLY invalidates your delusions,

then you’re actually rational to believe them. Those are not even “delusions” then, merely your experience,

AND THEN on top of that — if you benefit from them and that version of reality — you have no reason to ruin it

You do that which you believe will benefit you — and you only BELIEVE it will benefit you because you believe it is TRUE (true that it will benefit you),

(if you thought that it was NOT true that certain course of action would benefit you — you would say you DON’T BELIEVE that course of action would benefit you… and would (NOT) act accordingly = wouldn’t take that action)

of course, if it’s ultimately NOT true, you WILL eventually learn,

which is why TRUTH matters. Because the UNTRUE will eventually lead you to taking a MISGUIDED action, and learning the hard way

but

how the fuck would you know it — if you haven’t experienced yet ANYTHING invalidating your beliefs?

Ergo

no one is exempt from madness

No one but

maybe someone who already questions everything,

not in a naively sceptical way, where he replaces the consensus knowledge / ignorance with his own delusions and fairy tales

But in a purely, genuinely sceptical way — sceptical of what he KNOWS already,

NOT in an action-paralysing way. You must act DESPITE being clueless, that’s life

But in an epistemically humble way,

That’s the epistemic attitude,

And the active attitude to take is that of constantly exposing yourself to UNKNOWN,

Because that’s how you get a chance to pop the bubble which DERANGED you

The bubble which distorted reality

made you rationally believe the irrational

let’s not find ourselves in that situation

it’s far more likely than you’d fear
