There are 3 levels of RELIABILITY:
-perfect reliability
-solid reliability
-and unreliability
Unreliability is near useless
Solid reliability is acceptable
Perfect reliability is twice as good as “acceptable”… or 10 times as good, or 100 times
The only reason one would ever compromise on reliability, OBVIOUSLY, is if:
-there’s some other benefit
e.g. it’s cheaper, or has extra features
-or if there are no better options available
Therefore in absence of those two reasons — one will ALWAYS choose the more RELIABLE option:
-more reliable product
-more reliable person to work with
-more reliable business to invest in
And in some cases — only the EXTREMELY RELIABLE choice even is an option.
E.g. you don’t want a plane to MERELY be “very reliable”. You’d rather it be PERFECTLY RELIABLE
Conclusion is:
since reliability is such an obvious advantage,
WHY WOULD ONE EVER STRIVE FOR ANYTHING LESS but being UTTERLY RELIABLE?
UTTERLY RELIABLE WITH EVERYTHING?
And this is why the entity that’s not reliable with small things — is NOT reliable with big things
Because it’s about the mindset, the attitude, the culture
Of course the sloppy person thinks he’s meticulous “when it matters”,
What he doesn’t understand is that the person that’s meticulous even when it barely matter — is EXTREMELY meticulous “when it matters”
One are the sum of it’s parts
The sooner all that is understood — the sooner one becomes careful and fastidious and RELIABLE
The sooner one learns to KEEP HIS WORD
The sooner one learns to be PROFESSIONAL
The sooner one learns that ALL WORK is a form of ORGANISATION, ORGANISING things
Including organising one’s partners to hold to the same lofty standards
And the sooner one is able to actually build impressive structures — knowing the foundations are strong enough to support them
Knowing it won’t fucking collapse any moment, because some things were… unreliable
