Clever Men, Clever Beliefs, Clever Nonsense

Stupid people have stupid beliefs.

Clever people have clever beliefs.

But it’s stupid all the same.

…”clever” belief, “stupid” belief…it doesn’t matter.

It’s all the same.

Belief is a belief.

It’s by definition stupid.

It can be the most clever belief, but it’s still stupid.

What is a belief?

It’s a form of knowledge, yes?

Let’s just say that beliefs are not facts. If there ever is such thing as a fact.

Let’s not get too deeply into the definitions, and consider a belief a plausible explanation, but without a very strong proof.

Belief’s don’t tend to be particularly empirically-based. But they do tend to be very clever. Or very idiotic. Depends on whose beliefs these are.

Bottom line is — you will act accordingly to your beliefs — whether you know them to be true or not.

Beliefs are decent heuristics indeed. Nothing wrong with that.

The problem with beliefs is not that their validity is not certain. This is never a problem, for nothing is ever certain.

The problem with beliefs is that we are very certain of their validity.

And this is precisely why beliefs are stupid.

Anything that convinces you of being right is stupid.

Furthermore — anything that deters you from thinking is obviously, by definition, making you stupid (not-thinking).

Belief presents itself as an answer — so that you don’t have to seek one.

Now,

from what I’ve noticed, “clever” people tend to have less beliefs… and less stupid beliefs.

But they still have plenty of their own clever little beliefs.

Which are extraordinarily stupid.

Stupid enough to justify killing each other. Destroying the planet. Working day and night for crap that goes to waste another day.

Mankind has a very poor record of not being stupid. It’s not a theory it’s a fact. Our clever leaders are stupid. We are stupid. And by stupid I mean ELEMENTARILY stupid. So stupid as to not even be able to escape the self-destructive loop. I’m not asking to put a men on the moon. Which, in fact, is very stupid too, when kids are starving.

But the point of this text is not to wallow in sorrow over the stupidity of mankind.

I am simply pointing to the fact that thought-leaders, clever people, educated people — are just as susceptible to beliefs as everyone else.

Their beliefs are “smarter”. They sound more complicated and all that! Indeed, those are probably some more accurate simplifications of the reality. Thus yielding better results.

But they are stupid notwithstanding.

You’d be shocked how many of the smart people keep repeating stupid nonsense from other “smart people”, like fucking parrots.

It sounds clever for they are clever.

But it doesn’t matter how it sounds.

It’s still not a comprehensive model of reality.

Therefore it’s erroneous. And the moment you repeat it — you are not thinking — and the moment you’re not thinking — you are being fucking stupid.

It’s the ultimate irony of the thought leader, of the guru — that he’s “right” far more often then you are — but he’s still wrong all the time.

In an attempt to conserve energy — we pick up all those heuristics, all those gurus, all those stupid beliefs — and we end up with a lot of nonsense and a dysfunctional brain.

QUESTION YOUR FUCKING GURUS!!!

Take it in.
