Everything is different then it looks
Obviously
How something looks conveys only limited information about the object
And yet we act and we think as though our perception of a thing, coming from indirect experience, is objective, and gives us realistic image of the whole
You think you want something but what do you know about it?
How many of your wants pertain to something you’ve barely even experienced?
You talk about the world and worldly problems and worldly affairs but what the fuck do you know about it?
You only have some idea about the politics and about the economy and about the ecology and about the injustice, you have some idea you got from the news or from some well-spoken sales person
But really you have no clue about the real world
You plan your life meticulously but what can you even plan, fool?
How can you plan something you have no clue about doing?
You plan your entire career and entire finances and entire family and entire fake persona
You plan it before you have any idea about it
One could argue that you will never have any idea about it, only AFTER it, after you’re through it (life, career, family)
And one would be wise to be so humble
And focus on what CAN be controlled… now
Focus on being intelligent and sensitive and doing everything to the best of your ability
Talking is not doing, everybody knows this much (or at least heard this much)
I say — stop even thinking about all those things and just experience them instead
EXPERIMENT
Focus on real world problems, real world outcomes
When you see a possibility — don’t CONSIDER it, don’t judge the book by it’s cover, don’t ruminate endlessly the stupid (irrelevant!) pros and cons — if you can just PLUNGE IN and try it
Plunge in and try it and get direct experience of the thing, incomparably more revealing then whatever whoever said about it, the friend, the media, the president, the priest…
And please understand that what you think of most things, and what most man think of most things — is utter nonsense
You are only looking at the facade, with no clue what’s behind it — and you call it “knowledge”, and you plan your life according to it
Admit that you have NO CLUE about it
Admit that you have no clue about it — and discard it altogether! Don’t try to know what you can’t know!! Focus on what you CAN know, CAN explore, CAN experience.
Better to KNOW you don’t know then delude yourself that you know
When you actually act according to what you know, rather then what you think you know — your results will instantly go from utterly random to unbelievably accurate
Don’t be a fool
Everything is different then it looks
Learn for yourself, by yourself
