Feeling Smart Doesn’t Make You Smart

What’s the funniest thing about FEELING?

You can feel certain way because you are certain way… or you can feel certain way because you feel certain way.

Feelings are signals.

Feelings help us perceive the world. Mind takes time to process the consequences of certain action, but under the influence of emotions, our decisions tend to be swayed quite rapidly…

Feelings signal certain state of affairs. We do not know what to think about something, but feelings help us simplify it.

Needless to say, such simplification does distort the truth.

Feeling itself is what it is — a feeling. However, the signal, and the meaning behind it, is the distorted image of the real.

now,

feeling smart doesn’t make you smart.

feeling successful doesn’t make you successful.

feeling attractive doesn’t make you attractive.

feeling love doesn’t make you loved.

feeling hard—working doesn’t make you hard—working.

and yet, in the same time… it does (!!).

We do not want to be certain way, had it not been for the feeling.

The predominate feeling is just this feeling of security. Security we find in BEING SOMETHING. Pride, satisfaction and all the rest of it, those are just additional.

If we feel certain way — it’s almost as good as being certain way.

As long as we can let our feelings FOOL US into believing the truth is such… we are contented.

But the feeling is NOT the thing.

You can feel as smug as you want while repeating some stupid quotes or popular (or unpopular) opinions or you an talk all day about being smart.

There are many ways to feel smart.

There are not many ways to be smart.

The problem is not not—being—smart. The problem is fooling yourself into believing you are SOMETHING ELSE.
