Let’s define intelligence in terms of cause and tangible effect
It doesn’t have to be perfect cause and effect
The point is that we get an effect at the end — which can be measured — and which adheres to the previous intentions
This would be intelligence
Let’s NOT define intelligence as mere coherence in one’s beliefs about any given subject
For that subject, for instance, could be chess — a pointless and useless diversion
Thus defined intelligence requires cause and effect, just like we defined it
And what does cause and effect require?
Action
Thus it follows that INTELLIGENCE is INSEPARABLE from ACTION
Because action is what creates CAUSES — which in turn create desired effects
And what does action require, now?
Action requires WILL
Action requires ENERGY
Action requires POWER, DRIVE, FIRE
Action requires VISION
What follows is that INTELLIGENCE is a function of WILL, of ENERGY, of DRIVE, of VISION
Again, to reverse this thesis,
Without action — you can’t UTILISE your intelligence.
Intelligence is but a tool.
If it’s not utilised — we can safely assume that it’s useless, can’t we?
Intelligence not utilised through action is useless
Intelligence not used to solve more and more new and harder problems — is useless
Action absolutely MUST be the precondition to intelligence
With no action rendering intelligence useless, thus tantamount to non-existent
And the more action taken — the more useful that intelligence indeed
And of course ACTION is driven by WILL
The driven individual will use all his resources to the maximum.
Will use his energy
Will use his intelligence
He is effectively more intelligent. He uses his intelligence more
Furthermore intelligence is ONLY tested by action,
Just like a car is tested on the road
You can exhibit your intelligence like a zoo animal by playing chess or winning stupid debates
You can exhibit your swanky car on instagram, standing proud next to it
But the car is tested on the road
Intelligence is tested in action
And intelligence is sharpened by action
By solving real world problems
Just like car design is refined by testing it again and again and again on the road
Let’s not just be theoretical
What I’m literally saying is that the WILL tells me more about intelligence than:
-one’s academic background
-one’s cleverness
-one’s words
-one’s worldly successes
What I’m literally saying is that man who had run the gauntlet of real world challenges, real self-improvement, real tangible every day improvement — they will be far sharper and more accurate than the man who didn’t — regardless of other “intelligent” advantages,
Of course there’s a limit to it, and brain is a computer which comes in different shapes and sizes and processing powers
But the gulf between a lifetime of sharpening one’s intelligence through the LOOP of DOING MORE, THINKING MORE, LEARNING MORE — and a lifetime of subjugating one’s intelligence merely to some narrow aspect of reality — the gulf is profound
Indeed true power of human will, drive, vision — can not be overstated in any realm of human endeavour
Why should intelligence be different?
True VISION, true powerful VOLITION — is powerful enough to:
-find Herculean reserves of energy
-find magical resources
-create ecstatic immersion, flow state
-create a profound sense of satisfaction and purpose
why would it not be able to “create” more intelligence?
There’s a qualitative difference between mere “intelligent person”, with quick grasp of things and witty retorts,
between mere “learned person”, with their books and formulas,
and the truly DRIVEN person, and thus energised and sharp and curious and motivated
I posit that INTELLIGENCE is a function of WILL
