Take The Moment As It Is —Make The Most Out Of It — Then Let Go Of It Entirely

Each moment is unique

but also similar

depending on what property you look

From our narrow individual perspective — there’s a limited number of similar moments — and then we die

in the grand scheme of things — there’s an infinite number of infinitely similar moments

As an individual entity you are concerned with preservation of that which comprises you as that entity

survival of your body, survival of your mind, survival of your values, survival of your reality, survival of your homeostasis, your comfort zone, your status quo…

thus you attach yourself to that which you consider you, which you consider vital to you,

There have been great moments in your life and terrible moments in your life.

There will be great moments in your life and terrible moments in your life

There are great moments in your mind and terrible moments in your mind

what this means is:

There will be great moments in your life and you will want more of those moments,

and sometimes you will want PRECISELY that moment,

except it will elude you,

And there will be great moments in your mind and you will try to bring that moment to your life,

and sometimes you will succeed,

and sometimes you will fail,

and sometimes you can’t succeed,

and there will be terrible moments in your life, and in your mind, and you will want none of them,

and sometimes there will be none of them,

and sometimes those are your fucking reality

See — we have PREFERENCES about MOMENTS OF YOUR LIFE, and our life, of course

Sometimes we have a very real idea of what kind of MOMENT we want to experience — and we succeed,

Sometimes it’s an unattainable fantasy,

And sometimes that moment is our current reality — and then it’s gone

We have PREFERENCES,

we have PREFERENCES AND ATTITUDES — and those attitudes distort the truth about each moment,

The truth that each moment is both UTTERLY SPECIAL,

and COMPLETELY ORDINARY

This moment of your life may be the LAST MOMENT of your life, period

A war may break out and you will be killed

Or you may get stung by a snake and die

Or a bike may ride you over

Or you get sick and die

This moment of your life may never repeat, not even close

It’s just the truth

And even if you have many years and much time — it’s LIMITED

If you only had 10 “moments” left — how would you experience those moments?

And how special would they be?

Well they are special

They are utterly unique

And then they are gone

In the same time even the most SPECIAL moment of your life, is in truth utterly ordinary

You think what you’re experiencing is special?

MILLIONS are experiencing it right now

And you?

Will you experience this again?

Yes and no

Each moment is unique but also similar — depending on the property you consider

The next moment may look different physically but be IDENTICAL SPIRITUALLY

In truth — it probably is identical, indeed

Because it was not the superficial appearance which defined it — but the EXPERIENCE

And the experience may have all the same qualities, and better

Now what do we do?

Sometimes we want for the moment to last forever,

It passes — and we’re just holding on to that fantasy,

And that fantasy becomes all-important — and separates us from the actual life going on, actual life-living

Then, sometimes we hope that the moment will repeat, the opportunity will present itself again,

We don’t take the full advantage of the moment because we hope we will get another chance,

And then the moment passes — and there IS no second chance

What to do?

TAKE THE MOMENT AS IT IS —MAKE THE MOST OUT OF IT — then LET GO OF IT ENTIRELY

You take the moment as it is

You understand that it WILL pass

You don’t HOPE for it to present itself again — you know you’re MORTAL. You have a sense of urgency about this existence.

Your savour it to the fullest

You take full advantage of it

And then you let it pass

And you don’t hold on to it for a second longer

You grab the next moment, AS IT IS

You take the moment as it is — for good and for bad

If it’s good — you fully cherish it

If it’s good — you take advantage of it

If it’s bad — you DO YOUR BEST

If it’s bad — you do your best, and let it pass, into nothingness from which it came

Nothing’s permanent

(Except for everything)

You take the moment as it is — and then you let it pass

You get the most out of it — and then you let it pass

Because the NEXT MOMENT COMES

Now your duty is to fully honour THAT very moment

There’s no time to stay left behind

Make the most out of this next moment

And if you DO make the most out of each moment — there’s nothing more to hold on to anyway

If you did your best, if you took your chances, if you took your time and fully appreciated it — then there’s nothing more to hold on to

You will have learned what you had to learn, you will have experienced what you had to experience — now you can move on

Of course one day you’ll die. What different is that? Let the moment die, let the moment pass

And if you want another chance?

Or if you insist on MAKING YOUR MOMENTS YOURSELF? Based on your design, have your way?

You still can only do the same thing, which is to:

—Take the CURRENT moment, AS IT IS

—THEN shape it to your liking

And if you remember that it’s a NEW MOMENT, NEW REALITY — with which you are working — you will be able to shape it, mold it, mend it — quite as you please

But if you deny it and will try to turn it into something that it’s not, something that it can’t be, some sick fantasy or sentimental memory — then you will fail

Take the CURRENT moment as it is — THEN carve from it

Forget your past

It’s gone

Decide what you learned — then SHAPE the present with it

And don’t get so crazy about your future. There is NO future.

Instead do what you want today — that is ALSO getting you what you want tomorrow

And TAKE EACH MOMENT AS IT IS: whether it’s good or bad

Because it’s EVERYTHING that you have

Tomorrow you may die without having made the most out of it?

It really doesn’t matter what you situation is, good or bad — the direction is always up

Either you elevate yourself, and this moment — or not

So take this moment and live it like it’s your last

and do your best

and then let go of it entirely

and take the next moment
