Internet is nothing but BUBBLES
Echo chambers
It’s literally nothing else
It’s like 99% bubbles and echo chambers,
It’s not “social”
It’s not “friendly”
It’s definitely not a fucking “town square”, you dumb cunt
EVERYTHING on the internet is so constructed so that you become trapped in a bubble
That’s how ALL incentives are aligned
-Incentive for you to spend more time there, bouncing off the walls with futility
-Incentive to radicalise you for the meme’s purpose
MEME’s purpose indeed
It’s not “orchestrated” by but a single illuminati mastermind, you naive conspiratorial nut
MEME has it’s own life, it’s own purpose, it’s own agenda
It’s JUST like a virus, indeed
It needs a host, and it needs some medium to disperse
It’s a parasite, but not entirely negative, it might as well be positive
We have this virus the medium, we created the perfect medium for it’s infinite dispersion
No boundaries to connectivity and information exchange means no boundaries to meme’s dispersion
We thus become completely infected almost immediately
20 years of indoctrination collapsed into a week on friendly social fucking media
Normally different memes would compete,
Different bubbles would be fragile and bounce one onto another and burst, through the friction
Now bubbles are antifragile
They feed off antagonistic bubbles, antagonistic viewpoints — and strengthen themselves
If someone says you’re lying — it only strengthens your assertion that they are lying. Which in turn strengthens THEIR assertion that you are lying only more. Which in turn STILL strengthens you assertion… and so on…
Those superpowered memes also DID return to the non-digital world, to there propagate with increase virulence
For they learned, we learned, the mind-control tricks that would make Goebbels blush
Iterated them infinitely online — now we took them back offline
Internet is nothing but bubbles, entire colonies infected by a single meme
THERE IS NO PLACE ON THE INTERNET where you go to MEET ANOTHER PERSON
You don’t have time for such old fashioned nonsense
The incentives don’t accord with this type of old fashioned behaviour
You’re not there to meet a random person that thinks differently, and listen to them, and challenge them, and maybe tell them to fuck off, or maybe fall in love with them
You’re here to put a fucking dislike under their message, their comment, their tweet, their video
The whole process should take about half a second,
In the next 10 seconds you will have put 19 more dislikes, and maybe one like,
Or perhaps the opposite
Depending if you visited today the BUBBLE which CONFIRMS your biases literally — or the one which confirms your biases via negative, through “proving to you” how “dumb” the other side is and “biased” and, well, in a “bubble”
Now,
99% of the internet is like that
Not 100%
And not everyone is as vulnerable to this deviance as most people
I would say that the magnitude of the bubble, mind control, indoctrination, meme saturation — is directly proportional to:
-the shortness and shallowness of the content
-the speed of consumption
-the algorithmic influence
-the clickbaitiness
-the number of other “people” “engaging” with comments and likes and whatever else
-the absence of responsibility, or false responsibility
meaning,
the shorter the form, or the comment,
the faster you consume it,
the more dependent on algorithm is the fact that you’re seeing it,
the clickbaitiness, directly related to previous one,
and then the saturation with online “crowd” of NPCs commenting and liking and “engaging”, giving false impression of “town square”, really resembling more disposable soldiers with 0 personality and 0 agency, only meme joining them here together, in this quest for greater yet meme reinforcement,
and finally either the anonymity, or really a disposable identity, EVEN IF it’s someone’s real identity, that person might have long time ago sold his soul, thus a public compromise of his values or himself or his soul is not something that exists for them, for indeed their soul doesn’t exist, their dignity doesn’t exist
Now
The hope is in doing the opposite,
If
If you hand-select what you shall consume,
Search SPECIFIC information, from SPECIFIC source, of SPECIFIC validity, with SPECIFIC purpose in mind,
If you do everything completely strategically, read comments, browse content, EXTREMELY strategically,
knowing EXACTLY how extremely LOADED and BIASED most likely it is,
not by any single person’s or organisation designs, but by the (mis)alignment of online incentives
And if you take breaks from it,
And if for every online engagement — you have twice as much offline engagement
Or at least REAL HUMANS engagement,
Someone who actually has an identity, and actually cares about it, and will actually be held responsible for his words and deeds offline and online
We will learn how to get signal from the noise
We will learn to contain the spread of lies and misinformation, to finally get impatient with it and destroy it, as individuals, impatient of ever again reading a lie, never again hearing from that person again, no more tolerance for bullshitting and lies
And we will learn to navigate all this chaos, all this utter overwhelming overabundance of EVERYTHING, LITERALLY EVERYTHING,
We will learn all that
Or take a big step back as a civilisation
