WHAT You Did, NOT How

There is no delusion more insidious than the delusion that HOW you did it is somehow more important then WHAT YOU DID,

There is no delusion more insidious than the delusion that HOW you did it matters at all

There’s only what you want to do — then DOING of it

When you want something — you get it

Everything else is distraction

It’s the truth

When you’re thirsty you drink, when you’re sleepy you sleep, when you’re tired you rest, and when you want something you get it

There is only the destination — and then moving there

Obviously your destination may be vague, obviously you may change your mind, obviously you may stumble upon something more interesting, obviously you may end somewhere else

But the ELEMENTARY LOGIC is utterly indisputable: you PICK a destination, a direction — then you MOVE THERE

Nothing else matters,

And if you can get there in the STRAIGHT LINE — you JUST DO

And if you can’t — then you find some other way

Again, obviously it’s “more complex” in life, you want to spend “x” amount of resources to get “y” return of investment, etc

yes there are many moving parts

But again, the ELEMENTARY LOGIC is never ever changed — there’s cause and effect, there’s an end and you getting there

And this is what we get wrong

It’s ok to stay open minded. It’s ok to never be complete, never be certain. It’s, in fact, the only way to live — finite man against the infinity of possibilities

But we USE that vagueness and confusion as means of SELF-DELUSION

We use it to protect ourselves from DOING WHAT MUST BE DONE, from GETTING WHAT WE WANT

When there are conflicting desires within us — we will use that CONFUSION to absolve ourselves from what must be done

When there are conflicting desires within us — we will use that CONFUSION to absolve ourselves from what must be done

-You will create million conditions before which something is finally acceptable to you

-You will be a perfectionist — achieving nothing because it was “not perfect enough” (nirvana fallacy)

-You will change course 100 times, beating around the bush, ending nowhere, because you were “searching”

-You will be forever “preparing” yourself

-You will forever be waiting for the right moment, for the right market conditions, for the right person, for the right mood, for the right weather

-You will never have time

This nonsense can’t be tolerated

Finally

The end DOES justify the means

That’s because the means ARE de facto part of the END

Like your earnings are your income minus your expenses — the MEANS are INSEPARABLE from the END.

The debate whether end justifies means is fallacious

Obviously end justifies means. If the end gain is greater then the cost of the means — then end DOES justify those means, does justify that investment.

It’s how all things work. You invest your resources — time / energy / capital — and expect greater return.

The true problem is how certain you are about the positive outcome

The true problem is how certain you are about the positive outcome. Therein lies the essence of the problem.

We play god, thinking we know what we’re doing, exercising all our powers, paying terrible price, hoping for terrific outcome — but perhaps we are overreaching ourselves…

…perhaps we are FALLIBLE

There the precautionary principle applies

But don’t delude yourself that you must be more careful with your own life

You will DIE

You have only so much time

You must take risks

And vast majority of those risks are insignificant in the grand scheme of things

Vast vast majority of your fears and worries and inhibitions are nonsense and insignificant

Like the notion that how you did it somehow matters, that how you did it is somehow magically more important then what you did,

Believe me, 99% of you worrying HOW you’re going to do it is just a way for you to POSTPONE you actually doing it

For when you WANT IT —  YOU FIND AN EASY WAY

Period

Therefore dispense with all the nonsense of how you’re going to do it, all the story, all the glory, all the “rules”, all the worries,

If you see an opportunity to make something amazing — please APPRECIATE IT. STRIKE when the iron is hot!

Please take on this mentality of FINDING WAYS TO DO IT, this mentality of resourcefulness

And please cure yourself from this sick mentality of overthinking the means, the minutia, the excuses, all that nonsense
