I’ve noticed an uncommon but insidious trend:
-one observes that society is oft wrong (already as a teenager, when mind is ripe, though callow)
-one sets about finding his own truths
-again and again one finds that societal paradigms are unfavourable to him, as an individual
-one begins to generalise that society is “always wrong!”
-and one becomes even more stupid then what they rebelled against, one becomes a caricature fucking “edgy” contrarian
-…and today, god forbid, such idiot finds his audience, as any number of fools can rally around him, from around the world
The opposite of “wrong” is not “true”
If someone says that dogs are green — that doesn’t mean that dogs are, actually, RED
Or that it’s CATS that are green!
You may think those are bad examples
But that’s how the stupid contrarians think
They don’t ever even look for first principles, or some deeper truths: 1)they inherit the base-paradigm from the society (just like the rest of the stupid mob); 2) then they merely declare that the opposite is true
Just because you recognise something to be wrong doesn’t mean you know what is right
Nor that you’re even any closer to the truth
Alas,
Alas we like to claim we know
Alas there is comfort in delusions
Alas we DO have to disagree, EVEN when we’re wrong (and wrong we will be, and not right)
Alas we have to walk our own path, or else we’ll walk someone else’s, and it will not be our life at all, no life at all
Thus we are often enticed by this terrible epistemic arrogance
Arrogance in accepting, arrogance in denying
Everyman is arrogant in his blind faith in “truths” he inherited from the society, truths he takes for granted
Contrarian is arrogant in his belief that he can refute the society with a few spirited protestations
Be neither of the two
DON’T be arrogant
Take NOTHING for granted
Rediscover it all by yourself,
And when I say “rediscover” — I mean it
Rediscover and PROVE it with your actions, NOT words
Truth is only true if it’s proven — and it can only be proven in REAL LIFE, with actions
Thus action is the only appropriate response to nonsense: nonsense of the world, and nonsense of the anti-world
And action is the only needed response. There is no need for anything more.
No need for words. No need for demonstrations. No need for tears. No need for a fucking book.
Just live your life, well, now.
PS: I’ve never seen a green cat, nor red, nor a green dog. I am rather ignorant and at least this much i know.
