Procrastination vs Taking a Break

There’s Procrastination and there’s a “Break”

Confusing the two is detrimental

Indulging in the former is detrimental

Neglecting the latter is detrimental

Procrastination is confusion

To procrastinate is to be confused with what you want (to do)

You think you want something but you don’t

You think you want something but you lack energy

You think you want something but the process separating you from that thing is not something that you want

Either way you’re confused

Either way you’re confused

On the surface you recite your PLANS and GOALS,

deep within you don’t want any of that

therefore you procrastinate

or perhaps you do WANT something,

but you don’t want to go through what is necessary to get there

This is not the real wanting; When you truly want something — you do it

Alas you don’t understand it because you are confused,

You’re confused instead of being aware of WHAT YOU WANT TO DO — and what results your actions should yield

Or perhaps you DO want to take action,

Alas you’re exhausted

This too is confusion,

You don’t understand that in the moment you’re exhausted, you’re asleep on your feet, you’re utterly enervated, you don’t understand that in that moment what you USUALLY want is NOT what you want

If you haven’t slept for a week, then run a marathon, while drinking 0.5l of vodka, and then painted your entire house — do you think your WANTS would be the same as your wants when you’re rested and strong and healthy?

You fail to understand this simple truth because you’re so “motivated”

And because you dread procrastination

You dread to fail on your goals for such as stupid reason

And this is how we become ignorant in regards to RESTING

This, and our emotional immaturity

You think you ought to be consistent

In that consistency you find some of that security you yearn

Alas we’re not consistent

We get tired

Physically

Intellectually

Cognitively

Emotionally

Psychologically

It’s just how it works

We don’t take a break often enough

Physically

Intellectually

Cognitively

Emotionally

Psychologically

We find a routine and shut ourselves within it

We find something we like and we abuse it

We find a person who tolerates us and we marry

We get a goal and fixate on it, not flexible

We don’t take a break often enough

We are not in touch with our mind and bodies

We don’t measure our performance

We are desynchronised from our natural rhythm

We ignore the natural way of things

We don’t take a break often enough

We’re in this rush

SOLVE EVERYTHING YESTERDAY

We are confronted with something NEW and BEAUTIFUL — and we instantly label it and throw it into some box in our subconscious

We get angry and don’t step aside to reconsider our silly reaction

We burn out and don’t step aside to reconsider if we had too much work, or too little enthusiasm for it in the first place

We get depressed and we don’t step aside to look at our shit life, before we resort to pills

We perform suboptimally and don’t step aside to reconsider our energy levels, our concentration, the strategy

We sit in one place for 5 hours and don’t take a walk, wondering why it feels so… stifling

We reach for another beer, not minding if perhaps the first one was all we needed, to relax ourselves

We have coffee every single day, and we wonder why it doesn’t work

I could go on and on

we don’t take a break

in EVERY aspect of our lives we’re as IGNORANT to the fact that EVERYTHING GETS TIRESOME AND BORING

like everything passes — so does the TIME when it is appropriate to do something

there’s an appropriate time to work and appropriate time to play

appropriate time to sleep and appropriate time to be awake

appropriate time to have a coffee and appropriate time to have a beer

and you have to be MINDFUL of that time

be mindful of yourself changing your mood, be mindful of yourself getting tired, be mindful of yourself getting bored

…it really is but a problem of IGNORANCE, isn’t it?

either your procrastination, or your routine

You procrastinate because you’re ignorant of what you want, and what it takes to get it

You don’t take a break when you need one because you’re ignorant of how you function

Get clear with what you want to cure procrastination

Be ready to give up if you still fail to follow; Or reduce your undertaking 10-fold; Baby-step it like the baby you are

But never fixate on anything

Fixation has nothing to do with clarity; You’re merely shouting over the lingering confusion instead of dissolving it

Be mindful in every little thing and every large thing you do: your everyday actions, your long-term undertakings,

Be mindful that you do get bored and you do get tired

and that it’s time to take a break
