So progress happened.

NOW what?

 

Do we modify it? Prevent it? Accelerate it? Regulate it? Deregulate it? Encourage it? Tax it? Ban it?

 

“Progressive” may say:

“This is wild, unregulated — ergo it benefits ONLY the rich. Also it obviously destroys the planet.

We should tax it, +condemn it.”

 

Ok REAL progressive may say:

“This is progress. Obliviously. Progress is progress. Now lets MERELY try to distribute it’s fruits equitably,

Let’s try to mould the society in such a way so that it takes the fullest advantage of this clear progress”

 

Likewise conservative may say:

“Let’s NOT regulate it, and let it’s run it’s course. The capable and resourceful and industrious deserve to reap rewards of their hard work. Let’s NOT meddle with this process, lest we ruin it, and then ruin more than that.

And let’s not hinder economic and technological progress — lest our enemies overtake us”

 

But conservative may also say:

“This is disruptive to society, traditional values, and not precious to jesus.

It should obviously be banned”

 

Now, this is obviously an oversimplification,

EXCEPT this is how most “progressives” and “conservatives” think these days

Or rather, they don’t think

Else they’d spot the fucking contradictions

Real progressivism should be resulting in progress, not regress

Conservatism should protect, conserve that which is valuable and proven — not hinder progress of that which can be improved

 

As usual labels of course destroy the nuance

 

As usual trying to argue both sides is how you MAYBE develop some nuance

 

+As usual, the response to derangement of others is NOT you becoming equally deranged -but you LEARNING EVEN MORE

So it would be preferable if we didn’t have bullshit in the first place, and bad actors.

But this is the reality now, we love bullshit because it entertains us — so algorithms show us bullshit

And if this is the reality — then this is what we have to deal with

=those few of us with taste for truth and reality — have to put in 10 times as much work, just to not go crazy

 

Returning to the question of PROGRESS which happened,

Indeed when it DOES finally happen, I believe it usually happens through technology,

and THEN it’s time for society to adapt = progressives are inevitable. I’m sorry jesus

But both conservatives and progressives often ruin that progress, because they don’t understand it

Conservatives don’t understand that the fucking Genie is out of the box

Progressives don’t even fucking understand that this is indeed progress
