We are wired to stimulation, wired to instant gratification, wired to pleasure – and this noxious addiction makes our lives dull and shallow.
Drug addiction is simply pleasure addiction. If you are addicted to pleasure – you are an addict – and you are no different to a drug addict.
Overindulgence only brings numbness. Pursuit of pleasure actually takes most of life’s pleasure away.
The question of transcending pleasure-addiction, hedonism, stimulation-problem, etc. — it is not a question of morality, or a question of achievement (one being illusionary and latter being meaningless).
It is a question of well-being.
It is only when this is deeply understood, that one can free himself from the pleasure addiction – and neither seek pleasure nor elude it.
One can not change the wiring through consciousness – consciousness can only transcend it (see beyond the mind which clearly IS wired).
The re-wiring itself happens through (crude) habit, through (primitive) repetition.
Only profound understanding will alleviate the conflict. For we don’t really want to change – we really only want to stay in our ways – and on top of that – we really only want that pleasure, that instant gratification.
One has to grasp the truth before the delusion can end.
The decisions is conscious – only the rewiring happens on the unconscious.
Rewire to rediscover the simple joy of BEING ALIVE
