SHAME is what protects you from CHANGING
Ideally from changing for the worse
But what is “worse” in the first place?
Thus practically — shame often protects you from changing PERIOD.
There are many LAYERS to SHAME, which can be shockingly independent
There are things you’re ashamed of publicly but comfortable with otherwise
And there are things you’re ashamed of in one environment — and ashamed NOT to embrace in other environment
There are shames which are easily overcome
…And there’s shame and RESISTANCE that’s SO DEEP — so as to NOT EVEN BE PERCEIVED:
-you don’t even feel anything
-you’re not conscious of those things
-it’s buried extremely deep
-and stretches across your entire psyche
-and your ENTIRE LIFE
(again: without you even realising it)
The moment you BREAK OUT of your resistance, the shame paralysing you — you feel EXHILARATED — the exhilaration of LIBERATION.
And it feels as exhilarating to embrace your FLAWS — as it feels exhilarating to finally own your UNIQUE STRENGTHS
(both produce shame — since both differentiate you from the society, from the average, and from your environment)
It feels great because now you’re free — and free to change for the better
However just like there are layers to SHAME (resistance) — so there are LAYERS to liberation
=you can liberate, “unlock” yourself on one level — while still remain utterly subjugated by a yet deeper level
For most of us this liberation is a good thing — where we can integrate more individuality and authenticity to our lives and actions and beliefs.
However with greater acceptance of our individuality — there’s inevitably a degree of greater leniency about one’s flaws.
For most of us acceptance of our flaws ACTUALLY liberates us to change them
Because before we fully accepted them — we typically denied their existence — and thus denied ourselves any opportunity for improvement
However for some of us liberation actually becomes LIBERATION FOR THE WORSE
This typically is observed in man who EXAGGERATE their minor flaws and vices and eccentricities and imperfections:
-dark humour
-bad taste
-ugliness
-weirdness
-controversiality and edginess and attitude
-etc
Intoxicated by the freedom of self-acceptance and abandon — they miss the forest for the trees
However there is a yet worse case — when shame-liberation serves as a green light for actual depravity and wickedness and psychopathic behaviours.
This depends on how DARK someone actually is, deep underneath the layers of layers of shame inhibiting that darkness.
And as aforementioned — various layers may or may not become liberated — leading to different resulting outcome.
For many — releasing the darkness actually disposes of it!
It can finally be examined — and then transcended
Your desire for power, for domination, for permanence, for significance — once confronted fully, without inhibitions and distortions of learned beliefs — are finally seen for what they truly are
Alas some are very very dark
There is little hope of understanding awaiting them in their own darkness
Shame can be a good thing
Prison can be a good thing
Some unfortunately do belong in prison
Some should be ashamed of themselves, so as to keep themselves in check
I do encourage examining your shame
I encourage liberating it through actual action — through putting yourself in a LESS THAN FLATTERING situations
I encourage making yourself vulnerable
However,
I caution you against falling into the trap of overindulging in your own SHAMELESSNESS and NONCHALANCE
It feels good to become liberated from worry about one’s imperfections, opinion of others and suffocating standards imposed on us
But the point of liberation is that you get the FREEDOM to BE BETTER. More authentic — AND more elevated as a human
The point of liberation is NOT to become worse, obviously.
Use this liberation to actually become better
Stop “giving a fuck” so as to actually do things which make you happier, stronger, more caring and loving and useful and competent
