When you have surfeit — you share
When she has surfeit — she shares
What you are lacking you receive
What she is lacking she receives
When we are lacking — we trade
You have a little bit of “X” but you could have more
Then again you have none of the “Y”, therefore you’ll trade some of the “X” for some of the “Y”
Someone has a some “Y” so he will trade you for a little bit of “X”
Someone has a some “Y” so he will trade you for a little bit of “X”
Perhaps he has a ton of “Y” — so he won’t really suffer in giving up some of his “Y”
He will benefit by getting “X” from you
You two agreed to the trade
Therefore it was a fair trade, wasn’t it?
No, it wasn’t
He ultimately suffered little and gained plenty
You suffered plenty and gained a little more then you suffered
Trade is not supposed to be fair
Only sharing is “fair”
Trade is not supposed to be fair
Because the world isn’t fair
Some of us have more resources
“They earned them”
Yes. But you ALSO try to earn them. EVERYONE is trying to EARN something: better money, better life, better love
We all do our best
The world isn’t fair
And it’s ok
It would be even less fair if you tried making it (too) fair
(think communism)
We always assume that it’s all fair
It’s not! Get over it
It works both ways, by the way
Exploited is not innocent of exploiting
I told you all trades were innately unfair
They can never be innately fair
One side will always gain more then the other side
Often it’s you
Often it’s them
What is fair then?
Sharing is fair
Sharing is fair
The god doesn’t know how much is enough,
he doesn’t stint on the sun he gives you
he didn’t stint on giving someone enough genius to change the world
he didn’t stint on making someone so beautiful so as to be admired by the entire world
he didn’t even laugh at our crazy dream of flying
miracles happen all the time
sometimes you starve to death
sometimes you feast yourself to death
abundance is real
it happens
and that abundance, you can share it
if you’re greedy you will first trade it
you won’t ask “how much is enough”, you’ll keep trading for as long as the world keeps rewarding you for it
but eventually the world will have nothing more for you to give
or else eventually you die
either way you’ll eventually share
your innovations, your designs, your ideas, your wealth, your castle,
either way you’ll eventually share
perhaps you’ll have enough to share with the entire world
perhaps you’ll have enough to share with the entire world — and even enough to share with the world after you’re gone
abundance is real
therefore:
-TRADING is never fair; it can’t be
–sharing is ever fair sharing is beyond fair; it’s you losing nothing and many gaining a lot
what follows?
you must innovate, obviously
you must CREATE, obviously
you must be intelligent, obviously, and more intelligent
you must create more value
you must leverage that value
multiply that value
you must create more value
write formulas, write code, write words…write checks
you must be happy too
once you’re happy — you’re instantly too happy
once you’re happy — you can’t have that happy stolen; that wouldn’t be true happiness
BE HAPPY to make others happy
don’t try to trade your way to the top
even if you should gain — it’s at the expense of others
ultimately it’s at the expense of everyone
trading is a waste of time
it’s a stupid game
you trying to get an advantageous deal by exploiting informational asymmetry
the only benefit of “trading” as such is that it reveals the value of things
history of successful trades is a history of value-hierarchies
those that made successful bets and predictions and subsequent successful trades are those that likely understood how and where the value will emerge in the world
that information is obviously valuable
but then there’s all the stupid games of getting one up on your brother
you will trade him X for Y and he hopes that Y is more valuable then Y and YOU will lose and HE will gain — while you hope that Y is more valuable then X and you will gain, at his expense
and you waste time and energy selling one to another and persuading
or trying to get informational edge to use it to your advantage
none of you creates any value
and you’re both beggars
and again — ALL trading is ultimately unfair
one side always benefits a little bit more, even if both benefit
this is no way to build your life around
we focus too much on getting good fucking deals and good fucking trades — rather then CREATING something new altogether, in abundance
it’s a wrong mindset
create value instead
create value instead
trade when you must
then create more value
create more value
what you lack – create
what the world lacks – create
what you want – create
what bothers you – solve yourself
create value
create value
create value
be useful
create value
this is all you have to know about this business-business
and this is all you have to know about the mundane-business, the daily-life-living-business,
create value and you’ve solved the worldly problems,
for you, AND for the world
