What does good even mean here?
Selfishly, solipsistically, they make you happy
They make you thrive, before you die
We don’t have to go deeper than that
When you’re depressed — you don’t give a fuck about philosophy
at the same time,
taking the loss,
accepting failure,
giving up,
quitting,
ending it,
can ALSO be good,
obviously
A goal is THE goal
(and if journey is the goal…. it’s STILL THE goal. i.e. it contains something you’re after)
if you can’t reach it — it’s pointless
Obviously you should give up
This is merely the converse of the previous point, point about GETTING WHAT YOU WANT, LIVING LIFE YOU WANT,
that is accomplished by, well, getting what you want,
NOT by NOT getting what you want, by continuously FAILING to get it
and of course, at the extreme, the end goal may become just the cessation of suffering
which too will have to be accomplished, one way or another
Finally acceptance,
Not really,
NOT if it can be avoided,
Makes no sense,
But
once you know you gave it all you had,
or that now you want to invest in something else,
OF COURSE you “take the L”, you accept the failure
You’re not stubborn
You’re not proud
You just want to accomplish your goals
If one goal fails, and now hinders another — you give that up
Who cares what others think, or even what you think about yourself,
Accomplish your fucking goals
Accomplish what you think is right
It’s quite helpful to massively lower the bar for everything
lower the bar for happiness, and smell the roses
lower the bar for accomplishment, and take the small steps to change and celebrate them
lower the bar of expectation out of life, and appreciate it as it is
etc.
It’s ALSO helpful to think big
Because FUCK KNOWS what’s possible
If you can’t make it happen — it STILL may happen to you
Look how crazy is the technological transformation of the world
and then societal,
We’re all JUST AS CONFUSED
You should do all you can to expose yourself to this randomness, in an advantageous way
And even if you FUCK UP your part — you may still get lucky
We didn’t dream of the tech we have today, 20 years ago. You’d think this tech would end up in the hands of billionaires or something. It’s in your palm. But yes I know you can’t pay the rent.
