Thought Is NOT Consciousness

Thought is NOT consciousness.

You don’t have to think it to be conscious of it.

And thinking it doesn’t mean you’re even conscious of it.

Thought is processing information: collecting it, and manipulating it

NOT unlike computers,

With the key similarity being that the data we operate on is never THE reality — it’s merely it’s recording

And that recording can never capture this reality, it can only represent a fragment of it. It is innately lossy”.

Consciousness is not “lossy”, not distorted, not reduced. Consciousness is just that-which-is being observed.

You may be conscious of only a tiny aspect of reality, or even only be conscious of a tiny aspect of your own PERCEPTION of reality, your own IDEA of reality,

But that is nevertheless consciousness, it is you OBSERVING — and there is no reduction here.

Now, when you understand what I just expounded, you understand that BECOMING CONSCIOUS is a different game altogether,

Different to “knowledge game”

Different to “thinking game”,

Different to “philosophizing game”,

And different to “Experience game”

It is the closest to “experience game” since new experiences force you to become conscious,

New experiences force you to become more intelligent too, force you to adapt, force you to think differently,

But even experience alone does not necessitate expansion of consciousness,

There must be willingness to see, to observe

There must be willingness to study, to inquire — but this time not from the place of merely processing data and spitting out conclusions — but from a passive, non-judgmental, calm perspective — of JUST BECOMING AWARE

And why would you be conscious?

You will seek to become conscious once everything else has failed,

The failure could be dramatic — such as failure of reason, failure of “success”, failure of satisfaction,

Or to rare few the failure and inadequacy of other modes of penetrating reality will naturally be obvious,

Not to most of us

Most of us must reach a certain limit of the inferior modes, inferior pursuits — and it will only then become urgent to seek consciousness

I do believe we should first reach this limit

Or else this very pursuit of “consciousness” becomes a delusion,

In which case you’re not only not conscious but also wasted your life

But to those of you who like to think,

Please remember that THOUGHT IS NOT CONSCIOUSNESS,

And perhaps that which you seek is unreachable, or even obstructed by thought,

Perhaps it’s quiet you need,

Perhaps it’s perspective you need,

Observe more, think less, conclude no more,

Go for a walk instead,

Do nothing instead

Slow down instead,

And focus instead

Observe instead

Get conscious instead
