When you:
-do your best
-ALWAYS seek to still do better, never satisfied
-stay utterly humble: perfectly separated from your work, verily just an instrument of god (or world, or devil, or money, or muse, or destiny, you name it)
-ITERATE LIKE FUCKING CRAZY
-and get lucky
+aren’t crazy (we all are a little)
then there is nothing more to doubt,
nothing more that you can do,
no more magic tricks left, no more secrets
now it’s just showing up,
and ENJOYING EVERY BIT OF IT,
and when you die — even if you failed — there is no doubt
there is only satisfaction
except you really shouldn’t fail if the above conditions are the case
The above is simple but not easy
Who really always does his best?
Who doesn’t get complacent?
Who doesn’t cease improving?
It’s so easy to get trapped in a comfortable spot in which we feel like we made it, like we’re good enough, like this is enough,
No
It’s never enough
If you want to do better — then there’s NO FINISH LINE
Better is always better than what already is
It’s a lifestyle
Who stays humble?
You don’t want to stay humble
If you ever achieve anything — you will be ecstatic to make it your identity,
a doctor, a lawyer, a gangster, a businessman, a traveller, an artist, a thinker, a “free spirit”, a leader, a fighter, an underdog, a millionaire, a billionaire, a “real man”, a “liberated woman”, an animal lover, a philanthropist, an entrepreneur…
You’re none of that
You’re just a dude DOING THINGS
DOING YOUR BEST
This is the truth,
But no, you want to be more
You want to be more because you felt worse one day, when you were young
And ever since you sought to be more, just so as to be good enough
Well
You’re neither better nor worse — you’re JUST A DUDE DOING THINGS
(And doing things better every day)
Do well and maybe it will all be well: for you, for others
Do poorly and maybe it will not be so great: for you, for others
But the elementary truth doesn’t change, in that THE MOMENT YOU DO SOMETHING — you are a PERSON DOING THAT THING,
Nothing else defines you
Every single moment you can completely change your life
Leave it all behind, and do something different altogether
Every single moment you can completely change your life: completely ruin your life, completely transform your life
Therefore you’re no one
Just a dude doing things
Therefore humble the fuck up and do your best
Who really tries one million things?
Most get a job, get a family, get a house, host a bbq, and then die
Usually when you do the same thing you get the same outcome
Usually when you do different things you get different outcomes
Therefore it you want better outcomes, which are DIFFERENT OUTCOMES — you have to take better actions, which are DIFFERENT ACTIONS
And since you probably are not sure what actions to take — you must EXPERIMENT
And getting different outcomes means getting a lot of better outcomes and a lot of worse outcomes
It means failing a lot more then you did when doing your usual business
But it means succeeding a lot more then you did when doing your usual business
Finally you must get lucky
How do you win a lottery?
You buy a lot of tickets
The problem with lottery is that you’ll go broke before you win
The problem with lottery is that even if you win — over infinite amount of time you’ll lose more then you win (that’s how lotteries make money, obviously)
But in life?
In life there are tickets which cost you nothing
Nothing but time, obviously
Time is a limited resource. Therefore you don’t want to waste it all before you win.
But unlike a lottery — you can actually pick the winning bets
There are no certainties — but certain actions yield better outcomes than others
You engage in those actions and expect your superior outcomes
Some of your bets will be failed and you will waste your precious time
Some will be lucrative
Finally
You mustn’t be crazy
If you hate yourself — then you “win” by losing.
So don’t hate yourself. Because then you can’t win.
Ask yourself why you hate yourself
Maybe you can’t forgive yourself, which is why you must be punishing yourself
Remember that your self-hate lies in your subconscious. This is why you are conflicted. This is why you say you want one thing and do another.
Close your eyes for an hour every day and watch every single thought and feeling
Understand that this is the REAL YOU. The “you” which is rambling his conditioned rationalization is just the tip of the iceberg. The REAL YOU is how you feel when you close your eyes, cease distracting yourself, look within, let the superficial raving pass, and see how you really feel, what you really think
Therein lies the truth about yourself — which you must sort out
Or else you’ll be crazy
Or else you’ll be crazy
It’s not just self-hate
It’s anything you hold on to
Any nonsensical conception that you learned and now operates as your muscle memory — deciding everything you do and everything you feel and everything you think.
You must dig it out and let go of it — or else you’ll never see reality
Once you’re not crazy — NOW you’re free to grow
And do well
Is there anything more to it?
I don’t think there is
Please be simple
and do your best before you die
