The Tragedy Of Indulgence

Indulgence conceals a terrible secret.

It kills pleasure.

Indulgence kills pleasure.

It kills joy.

It kills satisfaction.

The very point of indulgence is pleasure,

and yet, it kills pleasure

obviously it doesn’t grant satisfaction,

this much you’ve probably heard,

but it basically kills pleasure,

it will essentially destroy the joy.

Do you know the joy of having certain thing for the first time?

It is quite incomparable to the dull, old feeling of hoping to enjoy something, something you are having for the 100th time, and you are not even feeling anything, you are dull, you are numb, you are dead, and you just want to die.

The very definition of INDULGENCE is to give continuation to that pleasure, to that joy,

and the very way to DESTROY it’s magic, it’s charm, is by repeating it, over and over, until there is no more magic, only repetition, dead repetition.

Can you see?

The very thing that brought you joy was the SPONTANEITY of the thing, it’s freshness, it’s newness,

by trying to make it permanent, you make it stale, you destroy it, you kill it.

…and what are you trying to make permanent? What you experienced is GONE. What you are recreating is not the NEW you experienced. It is the old.

There is no drug in this world which you can continue abusing indefinitely without ultimately dulling yourself to it, a zombie.

There is no way of recreating the original pleasure, original joy, original excitement of doing something for the first time… it will never be like the first time,

only the FIRST TIME can FEEL LIKE THE FIRST TIME,

it’s almost too cliche to say it and yet let’s point out this simple truth out:

It’s not about repeating the first time. it’s about having MORE FIRST TIMES.

Indulgence is the reason behind our dullness.

We are all overstimulated.

In our world it became too simple to overindulge indefinitely, and we dulled our senses, and we dulled our minds,

all this pornography of the modern world is perhaps one of the greatest delusions of humanity,

all this PLEASURE only TOOK THE PLEASURE AWAY

INDULGENCE does not bring pleasure,

it destroys it

pleasure, joy… it does not come with indulgence,

it comes by itself.

The simple solution for our dulled senses is to MERELY CEASE ATTEMPTING TO GIVE CONTINUATION TO PLEASURE,

in other words – CEASE PURSUIT OF PLEASURE

whatever you pursuit – runs away from you. Be it happiness, satisfaction, love or.. enlightenment.

It’s likewise with pleasure.

Indulgence is this pursuit of pleasure,

cease it,

this is not renunciation, or asceticism,

the pleasure, the joy, it is always there,

it needs not to be sought,

it only needs to be received.
