every loss in life is just a prelude to the ultimate loss
every loss in life is just a prelude to the ultimate loss
one day you give it all up
why’s there all this suffering and grief upon losing loved ones or experiencing misfortune?
why’s there all this suffering and grief — if it’s still so empty and passing, if we’re still going to lose it all eventually?
all this suffering and grief is there so that we don’t lose
and yet we still do
is it pointless then?
it is
it is ultimately pointless
for we will lose
but this pointlessness doesn’t make the pain worse
this pointlessness eradicates pain
when there is full comprehension of the utter impermanence and flux, when there is complete cessation of attachment — the pointlessness of suffering is revealed — and then the suffering is eradicated
…and the life goes on
it still went on when you suffered
now it goes on without your suffering
it was pointless
pointless now that you know the truth
know that nothing was ever meant to last
perhaps we suffer so that we learn
learn to see the truth
you can’t make be: make yourself be, make your attachments be — therefore you suffer
you suffer but you still can’t make be
but what you can do is let go
and once you do — this is the end of suffering
and not until you do — you will suffer and you will struggle and you will resist and you will try to make be
in vain
…mere intellectual comprehension, or faith in this “truth”, it won’t save you, mind you
it’s a gradual unravelling
takes lifetime, LIFETIMES, I suppose
doesn’t matter how long it takes
you’ll learn when you learn
but keep faith
the truth of impermanence is going nowhere
it is always there, behind every loss of yours
waiting
and know that behind every moment of worldly satisfaction in this life,
behind every such moment there lurks the shadow of impermanence and obliteration and death
and it never goes away for as long as you cling
and when the thing goes away, when the thing is LOST — the truth finally falls on you, with all it’s terrible weight
but that truth was always there
be grateful for every lesson of impermanence you ever get
the liberation when the clinging ends is nothing of this world
verily, in our greatest pain, greatest truth is concealed
again: it will not approach you immediately
but it’s there
it’s always there
have faith my friend
if the most dreaded in this world you can face head on — what else is there for you to fear?
the truth of death is going nowhere — and once you’ve faced it — what else is there to fear?
we accumulate things and build things and accumulate power — and the more we have the more is there to lose
all those worldly pursuits are so vain and an escape from the ultimate truth of being utterly naked and void
if you can stare death’s in the eye and the pain of NOT-HAVING straight in the eye — what else is there for you to fear?
you are the most powerful being in the world
the most fearless and liberated being in the world
have faith my friend
in due time you should finally grasp the truth of impermanence
and know freedom
