You’re Not Qualified To Have An Opinion

You’re not qualified to have an opinion

You are only qualified if it’s:

-your direct experience/observation

-or a result of thorough study of the subject

Everyone is good at talking

Everyone has an opinion

I won’t say no one is qualified — most people are qualified to speak of some subjects

But they act as thought they are qualified to speak of all subjects

Shut the fuck up

Any time you find yourself in a debate in which you can’t get to a meaningful conclusion — ask yourself: ARE YOU, and people you’re engaging, QUALIFIED to debate those subjects?

Chances are — not

It will go nowhere

It will go nowhere — like it goes nowhere in political and sociological and cultural and what-not debates

You watch all those debates or even participate in them — deluding yourself that you’re so smart, and that you’re the side which is right

If the other side is not qualified — they won’t be in a position to understand your truths… assuming you yourself are qualified — which is unlikely

Again: One is only qualified if it’s:

-their’s direct experience/observation

-or a result of thorough study of the subject

THEN you can have an “opinion”. Then you can have a debate

Any time you find yourself reflecting and deciding and concluding on a subject — ask yourself: are you QUALIFIED to come to meaningful conclusions?

There’s nothing wrong with being ignorant… as long as you’re not ignorant about your own ignorance!

You don’t need to build your own car with your own hands — you have experts who will do it for you. Just admit that you’re clueless about making cars — and have someone else make a car for you.

Get help when you can

If you can afford it — EXPERIMENT. Nothing wrong with finding the truth yourself — for as long as you are seeking it.

But don’t delude yourself that you have a clue when you don’t. You’re not qualified.

You are only qualified if it’s:

-your direct experience/observation

-or a result of thorough study of the subject

EDUCATION and KNOWLEDGE alone doesn’t make you wise — but at least it makes you less ignorant. And to be less ignorant is usually to be less stupid. It removes a certain number of stupid assumptions you, in your ignorance, would have made about the subject.

“Debates” people engage in could be reduced to such assumptions — then each such assumption could be answered with vast quantity of academic and historical resources. Your serious “debate” is a trivial speculation, guesswork, fantasy, as you would quickly find. You are not qualified.

(examples: you are NOT qualified to speak about organising society, about economy, about vaccines, about covid, about strange diseases, about religion, about science)

On the other hand – your DIRECT experience is something which cannot be undermined. No one can prove with absolute certainty that the way you live your life is not the best way to live your life

Nor can the fact itself of you experiencing something be disputed. As delusional as you may be — your subjective experience is OBJECTIVE to you. It may fail to be substantiated by the world — but this doesn’t change the fact that what you did experience — you DID experience.

You ARE qualified to speak about your life, your feelings, your life choices, your experiences.

In fact — no one is more qualified!

It’s your life!

It’s your life — and you have to make your own mistakes.

And when you saw something, you did something — it’s IS usually pretty fucking real. It is an interesting subject to a debate. Your actual experiences, your actual observations. There are lessons to be learned there, there are predictions to be made, there are improvements to be proposed, and there is wisdom to be found. You are qualified.

You are qualified

Take interest in those things — your actual life.

Take care of those things — your actual life.

And if you want to be an expert in some worldly matter, well researched, with a body of knowledge behind it — then do your homework first, don’t be a fool, please.

This is simple but profound. Please know what you know
