VISION (The Ultimate Formulation)

Lets say you want to GO SOMEWHERE.

That SOMEWHERE is something in-between known and unknown.

It can’t ever be completely unknown — because then you would not be able to conceive of it.

It’s never entirely known either — because nothing is truly certain .

Therefore this SOMEWHERE WHERE YOU WANT TO GO is partly defined and partly undefined.

This part already is key — that you are very aware of that which is DEFINED — and very aware of that which is NOT defined.

Many think they know what they want but they don’t

Know what you don’t want, then!

Stop ASSUMING that you know so well what you want — and embrace the unknown! Embrace the truth about your own existential ignorance, embrace the truth about your own confusion. It’s ok.

Know VERY FUCKING WELL what you DO KNOW – and know really fucking WELL what you DO KNOW about WHAT YOU WANT

Then embrace the rest which you DON’T KNOW — and just gauge it via negativa — by only knowing what is definitely not true, about that thing (rather then what is definitely true).

=the space in which you don’t know what you want — gauge it with what you know you don’t want

THIS is your direction

THIS is your direction, NOT your destination

“Destination” already implies very concrete location

It’s ridiculous to assume everything will go according to plan. Nothing ever does.

Furthermore all the best things happen “by chance”. The best things are NOT expected. You focus on doing your best — and life throws UNEXPECTED OPPORTUNITIES at you. Opportunities you couldn’t have predicted. And you take them.

Finally: if it all could have gone perfectly according to plan — and you smoothly got yourself precisely to that fixed destination — then it wouldn’t be worth a dime. It’s like you finding your way home. Anyone can find his way home. It’s a fixed journey back to the comfort zone and familiarity and fucking STAGNATION.

You don’t want to stagnate. You want to elevate. And this can only happen if you challenge the unknown.

Which is to NOT have a destination — only direction.

And DIRECTION is only HALF OF THE EQUATION

That DIRECTION, that SOMEWHERE, it is somewhere in between the known and the unknown

Once you have that vague direction — now it’s time to start moving there

This is your plan

This is your VISION

And likewise — it is situated somewhere in between the known and the unknown

Your ROUTE is somewhere between the known and the unknown

Some places are on your map, some are not

There are landmarks along the way — where you can access new information, rest, and adjust your course

And finally there is of course your north star — the destination direction

How do you find the best way?

Just like your direction — so your route is part-known and part-unknown

You define the known PRECISELY.

You RECOGNIZE that which is UNKNOWN, humbly.

You define THAT which you want to avoid, CAREFULLY.

You do not want to walk into unnecessary danger

You will, mind you, be taking a risk. That is because UNKNOWN INVARIABLY CONTAINS RISK. Unknown comprises both RISKS AND REWARDS. Unknown comprises every possibility.

But you will be balancing the risks you take with the rewards you expect

You will be dipping your toes in the unknown, you will be straying slightly from the KNOWN route, adjusting your risk appropriately to the amount of risk you are able to survive

You don’t want to die, obviously. If you do — you are worse of then before you started. Don’t hit the absorbing barrier.

But you don’t want to stay home either. It’s better to die then do nothing.

THIS IS YOUR VISION

YOUR VISION IS YOUR DIRECTION — AND HOW YOU PLAN TO MOVE THERE

It includes both your definition of your DIRECTION — and your definition of the JOURNEY

And this definition includes both what you KNOW, and what you DON’T KNOW

And what you KNOW includes what you KNOW YOU WANT, and what you KNOW YOU DON’T WANT.

Now, it doesn’t end here,

YOUR VISION has SUB-VISIONS

Your like your DIRECTION can be infinitely divided, so can be your journey, so can be your vision

You can divide your road infinitely many times and each distance will comprise some segment of your journey. And each such segment, getting you from one point to another, could be considered a sub-vision. A part of the greater plan, a part of the whole journey.

It all sounds obvious only do we live this way?

How well defined are our KNOWNS and our UNKNOWNS?

You have some vague notion of what you want, with some vague notion of what you don’t want, and a vague idea of how you perhaps will get there.

Your vision is vague and oftentimes nonsensical. Your sub-vision is often at odds with your vision. It’s all great chaos and doesn’t fit together. You think of one direction, walk in other, and talk in yet another. You ZIG-ZAG through life like the blind, only to get back to point 0.

Most of us suffer from lacking vision

Most of us ALSO suffer from a very rigid vision

And most of us suffer from our visions being at odds with one another

We are way too rigid in some aspects of our lives and this stifles our growth and our freedom

Then in other aspect of life we lack vision entirely, perfunctorily going through the motions, not knowing what we want, not knowing what we’re doing

And some, as they receive this advice to “CLARIFY THEIR VISION” — fed up with their life of chaos and seduced by false purpose — will set about bringing artificial order into their lives, creating a rigid, inflexible plan, which they realize with blind, stupid stubbornness …

…WITHOUT COURSE CORRECTING — which eventually leads them to precipice

Their values were previously denied in their incompetence — now they’re denied in threading this fixed, dreary road to nowhere

This is what happens if you don’t understand your own ignorance, and just how little you know: about life, about yourself, about the world

If you knew how ignorant you were – you would define the little that you know — but stayed FLEXIBLE with everything else.

Which segues us to the other group: the “flexible” and “spontaneous” losers, with no skin in the game, just stupid fairy tales about how free they are

Your lack of vision is NOT freedom. It simply means you DON’T KNOW WHO YOU ARE. There’s nothing admirable about that. There’s nothing admirable about ignorance.

Again: KNOW the little that you can know — and KNOW WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW

The latter (what you don’t know) is far more vast, mind you. But do you even know what you do know? No.

Now, of course, most in that group don’t even claim to be “free”, which would at least vindicate them to some degree. They have no vision because they don’t even believe they could DECIDE FOR THEMSELVES, AND SET THEIR OWN COURSE

I tell you: you can set your own course

It’s not easy, but you can start easily. You can start small. Start SO SMALL that there is NO POSSIBILITY OF YOU FAILING.

Then build up from that.

There’s nothing more to growth. It only ever happens in infinitely small increments. Start inching in those inch-increments.

To conclude:

—Most lack overarching vision for their lives, and aspects of their lives

—Most simultaneously have a rigid vision of themselves in other aspects of life — which hinders their growth and freedom

—The more profoundly aware you become of WHAT YOU KNOW YOU WANT, AND WHAT YOU KNOW YOU DON’T WANT — the more clarity you attain

—You actually become MORE FREE — by freeing yourself from all the past constraints

—While in the same time — your VISION is stronger then ever, your sense of direction is commanding, superior.

…and you seem to find MAGICAL ways to making the right things happen to you

Finally

What do i recommend?

The foundation is always self-knowledge, obviously:

LEARN WHAT YOU WANT, LEARN WHAT YOU DON’T WANT, LEARN WHAT YOU KNOW, LEARN WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW, +EXPAND WHAT YOU KNOW.

And from that place you can DEFINE YOUR VISION

Which is to DEFINE your DIRECTION, what you know about it and what you don’t know, and DEFINE YOUR ROAD THERE, what you know about it and what you don’t know.

Then the final step is to MEDITATE UPON YOUR VISION EVERY SINGLE DAY

The final step is to MEDITATE UPON YOUR VISION EVERY SINGLE DAY

isn’t this too rigid and artificial?

Yes and no

It’s all contingent on the action you’re taking

You should be moving forward every single day

At the end of the day you should look back at the distance you covered, WHERE you arrived, and what is the NEXT STEP

This makes sense only IF YOU COVERED SOME DISTANCE, obviously.

Therefore you should be meditating upon your vision proportionately to the progress you made

Otherwise it’s just an instrument of delusion

But if you are indeed moving… then don’t neglect this vital action of REFLECTING upon your JOURNEY and the ROAD BEFORE YOU

You can’t overdo clarity. Not if you’re taking action indeed. Not if you’re a REAL WORLD DOER

Those that do nothing are already lost. Action is the foundation. Action is life. Action is living, being alive.

But once you acted — then sit, get yourself a drink, look back at your achievements, and DECLARE YOUR VISION

Make it shine the light over all the chaos and nonsense and doubt of the world

Let it carry you with unwavering certainty and inexhaustible power
