People mistake “good enough” for NOT good enough
and people mistake NOT good enough for good enough
A thing has attributes
If you need something for its particular attribute — all things that have that attribute are good enough
Optionality however, the extra potential utility — doesn’t make it better now — but it does make it potentially better tomorrow
Therefore it can be good enough today — but not good enough tomorrow
You can want that optionality of it being good enough tomorrow today — in which case that thing will ONLY be good enough today if it’s also most likely to be good enough tomorrow
Then there’s also the question of cost
Cost could be viewed as yet another attribute, and then two things sharing some attribute but varying in the COST attribute — can now be considered NOT equally good.
Or we can still consider them equally good (in regards to that particular attribute they share) — only differing in cost.
What matters is that you’re clear about it
If cost is the factor — what would ideally be good enough is perhaps no longer good enough
People mistake “good enough” for NOT good enough
The thing which would have perfectly served its purpose is believed to be NOT good enough
This is obviously a mistake
And it’s a great mistake if the “better” thing is also more costly
Get the thing that’s good enough and is also the least costly
People mistake NOT good enough for good enough
They could get something better, at fair price
But they just say “this is good enough”
No it’s not. If someone gave you the better thing — you’d take it
You’re deluding yourself that it’s “good enough” so that you can save yourself the extra cost
The extra cost potentially being even merely your attention, your decision, your resolve
Both are horrible!
You mistake “good enough” for NOT good enough
You’re marketed shit you don’t need
Features you don’t need
You mimetically crave what others crave
You want to be like others so you want to acquire their attributes
Fuck all that
There’s only you and your short time in this world
Consider what you’d do if you could TRULY do anything,
and if NO ONE was watching, everyone was fucking dead
And then the other opposite
You mistake NOT good enough for good enough
Why are you so complacent?
Can’t you see what’s possible? Can’t you see what’s out there?
Don’t you understand that you are going to die?
There’s no time
Someone told you that being small is humble,
and that being complacent is being contented and enlightened
Freedom from craving greatness and great things — that is enlightenment
But failure to discriminate between the PIG and the DIVINE is no enlightenment,
it’s darkness and death
fuck such life
it’s a wasted life
Behold what you want
Get it
Take the GOOD ENOUGH thing so that you have actually gotten what you wanted already
Take the good enough so that you actually accomplish your goal without first running out of precious time and precious resources
Then go get more, LIVE more, build more
Find something lovely and glorious and inspiring
Don’t just complacently clutch the little you’ve already seized, already built. Do something new, take something more, build something more
