You know, when you’re young and naive, you sometimes have an INSIGHT,

you think you’re seeing something that others don’t

you now think you know it all

 

and usually you’re delusional,

and yet you’re also right

 

later you discover that people had written books about it,

had this exact same “idea” that you did,

and in all likelihood — had built upon your idea,

and regardless if it’s right or wrong (often wrong),

it is now rendered small, MINUSCULE in comparison

embarrassingly basic, or inconsequential

 

and yet,

is it all the thinking and work put in that renders — a thought, an idea, a concept — valuable?

no

 

It is as valuable to you as much value you find in it

And it’s as valuable to the world as much value it finds in it

 

All the work put in to refine it has its own value — but doesn’t guarantee that anything will be refined,

It often does refine and build a wonderful system,

And that system often is more valuable,

sometimes it’s not very valuable

 

An observation can be extremely common,

and therefore not very special,

and therefore often not having any special value

 

but an observation can truly be unique,

you can merely be standing somewhere else, where no one else had stood,

the world is very random and therefore humanity ends up in random places all the time,

of course you’ll end up in a strange place all the time,

and your observation will be quite different,

and that can be quite valuable

 

..and THIS is the magical part,

A truly valuable observation — really is EXTREMELY VALUABLE

Even if it was cheap,

Even if it was but an observation,

If it sampled something new about reality — it instantly has the power of making or BREAKING the largest of theories

 

again, we rather overestimate our wonderful observations, ideas,

and when we finally put in work to developing them — we learn how much it takes to make your little insight valuable — and how little it is nevertheless,

AND YET,

every now and then, a single, CHEAP observation, insight — really is everything

 

and then interestingly,

our THEORIES then influence the observations,

in that they influence WHAT WE NOTICE

so there is a bit of a self-sealing property to knowledge,

it’s almost as though it has a will of it’s own, to survive, to persist

 

so it seems there is a small window,

between the arrogance of taking one’s insights too seriously,

and between the arrogance of taking the existing knowledge, the authority, the known, too seriously,

 

The theory, the work — quite linearly — scales. At least in quantity. Hopefully in usefulness, value

While an observation — it’s promising, yet usually useless,

and sometimes it is everything

 

sometimes it’s what spurs new science,

sometimes it’s what spurs you to do something no one else has ever done

in the world, or in YOUR life,

they told you you can’t do that,

and yet you did

You had an observation,

You have your own fucking eyes

They SHOULD be able to perceive reality. You don’t need THEORIES to see. If anything — you need to get rid of theories (to see)

Often you’re seeing nothing fucking special

Sometimes you’re seeing god,

 

Stay observant

humble and observant

learn from others,

but look deeper into what only you can see

I mean wouldn’t it be boring, otherwise?

Someone has to see something new, do something different,

 

and indeed,

we’re nowhere near done,

we know FUCK ALL

we know a lot of science,

but there is science we haven’t even started doing yet,

and science is just one layer, in the physical world,

there are so many worlds

not even in any superstitious sense,

and it’s all there to observe
